Johnny Depp as the Riddler on the next Batman film
June 25, 2009
There’s a rumor that Warner Bros. execs want Johnny Depp on the 3rd installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series as The Riddler. Who’s the next Batman villain has been the talk of the town after the memorable portrayal of the Joker by the late Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger’s performance really helps the film to reach the $1 Billion mark on worldwide box office. Beating the The Dark Knight is difficult so they must pick the right one on who will be playing the next villain. I think Depp is a good choice; he got the talent and the appeal (he is proven having multiple box office films on his belt).
Another Hollywood actor is considered to be the next villain, Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin. But according to Nolan, the Penguin character is way too farfetched and he doesn’t like it on the series. But that’s not yet final and I think the Penguin and the Riddler is a nice combination for the third installment.
Upcoming: Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island
June 17, 2009
This upcoming flick from the award winning director Martin Scorsese is based from the novel Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. The cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio as Teddy Daniels, Mark Ruffalo as Chuck Aule, Ben Kingsley as Dr. John Cawley, Emily Mortimer as Rachel Solando and many more. I haven’t read the novel but after watching the trailer it excites me a lot both for the movie and the novel. The US play date is 2nd of October this year and I’m really excited about this film. You can watch the trailer at You Tube just search for Shutter Island.
Puerto Princesa Subterranean River
June 14, 2009
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It features a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 km. navigable underground river. A distinguishing feature of the river is that it winds through a cave before flowing directly into the South China Sea. It includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers. The lower portion of the river is subject to tidal influences. The underground river is reputed to be the world’s longest. At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is framed by ancient trees growing right to the water’s edge. Monkeys, large monitor lizards, and squirrels find their niche on the beach near the cave.
